President of the Victorian Bar and Law Council of Australia, Queen’s Counsel, Judge of the Supreme Court of Victoria and its Court of Appeal, Chancellor of the University of Melbourne, 28th Governor of Victoria, and deputy to the Governor-General; Alex’s outstanding contributions were recognized in 2008 with an Order of Australia and a Companion of the Order in 2012.
Of Russian parents, Alex’s translucent skin is amplified with layers of opaque and transparent oil paint, evocative of the complexity and subtlety of the man.
